Two brave Cornish lifeguards are feeling just swell after a beach burst into spontaneous applause to thank them for a dangerous rescue.
RNLI lifeguards Chris Lowery and Josh Ward got the impromptu accolade at Porthtowan beach yesterday about 1pm (Tuesday).
The eagle-eyed lifesavers were coming ashore after saving a longboarder trapped in a cliff gully by two metres of crashing surf.
The sportsman was stranded at the northern end of the beach on his yellow, traditional longboard.
