How to wax a surfboard?
Q: My new 7'2 longboard doesn't have any wax on it. I have Sticky Johnson wax (Cool-Semi soft &sticky) and Billabong Cold wax. So i was wondering, which should I use for a base coat and any tips about waxing for a beginner?
A: Sticky Bumps actually makes a "base coat" that is basically harder than "tropical" wax, thats the best, but if you can't find any, use tropical wax, as the temperature on the wax is related to at what temperature the wax would melt.

Yes, Ed B is correct, you dont need basecoat, but it sure does help with the next layer. You will want to start with small circles for tighter beads and all around better traction, once you have a thin layer on your board, you could buy some Matunas, Zogs sex wax, or sticky bumps.

2011 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay – South Africa
In 1964 a group of six local Cape Town surfers drove over the dunes to a rocky point and witnessed perfect peeling right-hand waves. This surf spot, which was later dubbed Jeffreys Bay, has since been one the most famous surf spots in the world. Can you imagine surfing perfect J-Bay with only four guys out?
Fast-forward about 45 years. Jeffreys Bay is now a crucial stop on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) world tour. The Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay will be held from July 15 to the 25th this year. This legendary event marks the pivotal half-way point of the ASP world tour.
